• Writing a dissertation: You will investigate your research topic and spend a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation. You will enrol in WU’s PhD program and complete doctoral courses as part of your training.
• Supporting ongoing research: Varied tasks to support ongoing health and social policy research at the interface of economics and social sciences, including researching and preparing scientific literature, assisting in empirical studies, assisting in communicating research findings.
• Publication activities: You will work collaboratively and independently on English and German language research reports and publications. You will publish the outcomes of your research in international academic journals.
• Presentation of research results: You present research results (e.g. at scientific conferences)
• University teaching: You will help design courses, conduct courses yourself, advise students, and assist with exams.
• Exchange and teamwork: You actively exchange ideas with other members of the institute and the department and contribute with them to the fulfillment of the tasks of the organizational unit.

• Academic degree: You have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Socioeconomics or a related field that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
• Strong academic record: You have a solid academic background and your academic performance is above average.
• Passion for academic work: You have a strong dedication to writing a PhD dissertation and publishing in top-tier journals.
• Enthusiasm about research in the field of health and social policy: You are keen on analyzing social policy challenges, programs and institutions. Ideally, you have proven research experience in this area.
• Interest/ experience in policy evaluations: Interest in, preferable proven experience in researching outcomes of social policy interventions (cash benefits, in-kind benefits,regulation) from a socioeconomic perspective.
• Methodological skills: Interest in, preferably experience with, designing, conducting, and evaluating empirical studies (quantitative/qualitative/mixed-methods); knowledge of analytical software (e.g., SPSS; R, STATA, and/or NVIVO).
• Soft skills: You have excellent communication and organizational skills. You find it easy to structure tasks, to work through them proactively, reliably and on time. You are solution-oriented, systematic, precise, persistent and creative. You are willing to take on responsibility. You are a team player.
• Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn
• Language skills: You have strong skills in written and spoken English. Knowledge of German is not required but we consider it a plus.
