The Institute for Markets and Strategy is currently inviting applications for a fulltime Post-doc/Assistant Professor, non-tenure track position (Universitätsassistent/Universitätsassistentin post-doc Non Tenure Track, employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; gross monthly salary: Euro 3,711.10) or two 30 hours/week pre-doc Teaching and Research Associate positions (Universitätsassistent/Universitätsassistentin pre-doc, minimum gross monthly salary: Euro 2,095.95, recognition of previous employment - if relevant to the advertised position - possible). These employee positions will be limited to a period of six years, starting on February 01, 2019 (commencement date subject to change).

Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Assistant Professor, non-tenure track, is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who have already been employed at WU in an Assistant Professor, non-tenure track position cannot be re-employed in this position at WU (except as a substitute employee) due to legal restrictions.

Responsibilities:
The Institute of Markets and Strategy is part of the Department of Strategy and Innovation at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien. IMS has a focus on research and teaching on market and institutional design as well as game theory and behavioral, empirical, and experimental economics.

We are looking for self-motivated, highly active and productive researchers, who will be expected to make a significant contribution to our research areas or a related field.

Your tasks will include contributions to research, teaching, and administration at the chair, including co-supervision of Bachelor theses (pre-doc) and supervision of Bachelor and Master theses (post-doc).

Applications for an appointment as a Teaching and Research Associate imply that the successful candidate will enroll in WU's PhD program. Even though a substantial part of the candidate's research activities will be dedicated to his/her Ph.D. project, the candidate will also be involved in other research projects. The outcomes of such projects will be published in international research journals and presented at international academic conferences. Attending advanced graduate courses is part of the training.

Postdoctoral researchers are expected to participate in joint research projects with other members of the Institute but can also pursue their own research agenda.

Your Profile:
We wish to attract candidates with a solid academic qualification in Economics (preferably), Business, or a related field (post-doc: PhD or equivalent, pre-doc: master's degree or equivalent) and an advanced knowledge of quantitative research. The successful candidate must demonstrate the motivation and capacity to excel in both research and teaching. Applicants should have an interest in behavioral aspects of economic decision-making.

For Postdocs, we require evidence of research quality (e.g., as demonstrated in the job market paper and other papers).

We are particularly interested in candidates whose background and qualifications are in one or more of the following areas:
- economic game-theoretical analysis;
- statistical and econometric analysis, in particular for large data sets;
- experimental methods, both in the lab and in the field;
- computation and programming experience.

A very good written and oral command of the English language is required (for international candidates, German language skills are a plus). Beyond any formal requirements, we are looking for enthusiastic, curious team players who are passionate about research and willing to take on responsibility.
