The Freiburg Institute for Basic Income Studies (FRIBIS) at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg is seeking to fill the following position as of 1 September 2023, or by agreement.
PhD research position (m/f/d)
The position will be limited to 2.5 years initially. You are welcome to apply early and several months before graduating.
Project Description:
The position is part of a research project analysing the distributional and welfare effects of CO2 taxes and the reimbursement through a partial universal basic income. Here, micro-simulation models are used to analyze the interaction between direct and indirect taxation.
Your tasks
- (joint) publications on empirical issues concerning the distributional and welfare effects of CO2 taxes and the reimbursement through a partial universal basic income
- development of microsimulation models (EUROMOD)
- in this context, the implementation of a PhD project is possible and explicitly desired
- support in project administration and science management
- collaboration n the corresponding third-party funded project "ECOMOD
- co-supervision of final theses

Requirements
- (coming soon) A very sound university degree (Master’s in economics, business administration, business informatics or in a mathematically/statistically oriented field of study
- knowledge of empirical research and quantitative methods
- knowledge in the use of EUROMOD is an advantage
- interest in the above-mentioned research areas and in challenging research
- very good German and English language skills, both in reading and writing
- curiosity, open-mindedness and the ability to work in a team
