Förderpreis für Frauen in der Wirtschaftsforschung
FIW Award für Masterarbeiten im Bereich International Economics

Im Rahmen des Kompetenzzentrums „Forschungsschwerpunkt Internationale Wirtschaft“ wird der „FIW Award“ als Förderung für exzellente Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen im Forschungsbereich International Economics ausgeschrieben.

Der Preis richtet sich an qualifizierte Wissenschafterinnen, die eine Diplom- oder Masterarbeit an einer österreichischen Universität im Bereich „International Economics“ verfasst haben oder an österreichische Staatsbürgerinnen, die ihre Masterarbeit an einer Universität im Ausland verfasst haben

Die Höhe des Förderpreises beträgt insgesamt € 5.000,00 und kann auf mehrere Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen aufgeteilt werden. Die konkrete Aufteilung der Preisgelder richtet sich nach Qualität und Anzahl der Einreichungen und wird von einem Auswahlkomitee vorgenommen.

Gefördert werden theoretische, empirische und wirtschaftspolitische Abschlussarbeiten zu folgenden Themen:

Außenwirtschaft, Direktinvestitionen, Entwicklungsökonomie, Europäische Integration, Globalisierung, internationale Finanzmärkte, internationale Handels- und Finanzinstitutionen, internationale Makroökonomik, internationale Wirtschaftsentwicklung, internationaler Handel, internationaler Wettbewerb, multinationale Unternehmen, volkswirtschaftliche Effekte von Migration, Wechselkursregime¸ bzw. damit verwandte Themengebiete.

Für die Bewertung der Einreichungen sind folgende Kriterien maßgebend:

· Der Abschluss der Masterarbeit muss im Zeitraum zwischen 1. November 2020  und 18. Dezember 2022 beurteilt worden sein.
· Die Einreichung muss die Abschlussarbeit in PDF-Form und einen Lebenslauf enthalten.
· Inhaltliche Kriterien:
o Wissenschaftliche Qualität: 40%;
o Klarheit der Argumente und Resultate: 20%;
o Innovationsgehalt und Kreativität: 20%;
o Wirtschaftspolitische Relevanz: 20%.

Award for Women in Economic Research

FIW Award for Master Theses in International Economics

Within the framework of the Competence Center "Research Focus International Economics", the "FIW Award" is offered as a promotion for excellent young female scientists in the research field of International Economics.

The award is intended for qualified female scientists who have written a diploma or master thesis at an Austrian university in the field of "International Economics" or for Austrian citizens who have written their master thesis at a university abroad.

The total amount of the award is € 5,000.00 and can be divided among several young female scientists. The actual distribution of the prize money depends on the quality and number of submissions and is made by a selection committee.

Funding is available for theoretical, empirical and economic policy theses on the following topics:

Foreign trade, direct investment, development economics, European integration, globalization, international financial markets, international trade and financial institutions, international macroeconomics, international economic development, international trade, international competition, multinational enterprises, macroeconomic effects of migration, exchange rate regimes¸ or related topics.

The following criteria are decisive for the evaluation of the submissions:

- The master's thesis must have been assessed between November 1, 2020 and December 18, 2022.

- The submission must include the thesis in PDF form and a CV.

- Content criteria:

o Scientific quality: 40%;

o Clarity of arguments and results: 20%;

o Innovation and creativity: 20%;

o Relevance to economic policy: 20%.
