Save the date: Workshop “Political Economy of Trade Policy”

Political Economy of Trade Policy

The goal of this one-day workshop is to bring the scientific community on trade and political economy together with policy-makers on current trade negotiations, especially TTIP. The first part, the scientific workshop, will consist of research presentations in a seminar format on the political economy of trade deals. The second part, opening the audience to the wider public, will contain a keynote followed by a panel discussion on the politics and strategic implications of the current trade negotiations. We believe that this is the ideal format to reach both a wide audience, and an expert group in Austria, one of the key countries for the TTIP negotiations.

The workshop is organised by The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) in cooperation with the Johannes Kepler University within the Research Center International Economics (FIW: http://www.fiw.ac.at/). The FIW is a project of the The Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW). It is a collaboration of WIFO, wiiw, WSR and Vienna University of Economics and Business, University of Vienna and Johannes Kepler University Linz.

Neue Studie zum Thema "20 Jahre Österreich in der Europäischen Union" veröffentlicht

"20 Jahre Österreich in der Europäischen Union – Herausforderungen und Optionen für die Zukunft", eine Studie des ifo-Instituts gemeinsam mit dem IAW Tübingen im Aufrag des Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft wurde veröffentlicht und steht auf der FIW-Website zum Download zur Verfügung.

Call for Papers – 8. FIW-Forschungskonferenz

Der Forschungsschwerpunkt Internationale Wirtschaft – FIW veranstaltet ,am 3. und 4. Dezember 2015, gemeinsam mit dem Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung (IOS), dem ifo Institut, der Universität Ljubljana und der Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KRTK) die
8. Forschungskonferenz "International Economics". Theoretische, empirische sowie wirtschaftspolitische Arbeiten sind herzlich willkommen (JEL Codes F, O).

Besonders junge ForscherInnen werden ermutigt, ihre Arbeiten vorzustellen. Der beste Konferenzbeitrag sowie der beste Beitrag einer/eines jungen Forscherin/Forschers werden mit jeweils 1.000 Euro prämiert.

Diese Konferenz bietet jungen ÖkonomInnen die Möglichkeit in einer offenen Atmosphäre, mit ExpertInnen aus dem Bereich „International Economics“, über Ihre Forschung zu diskutieren.

Die Teilnahme an der Konferenz ist kostenlos.

Research Report “20 years of Austria in the European Union” published

The Research Report regarding "20 Jahre Österreich in der Europäischen Union – Herausforderungen und Optionen für die Zukunft" by Bernhard Bockmann, Gabriel Felbermyr, Wilhem Kohler and Rahele Aichele has been published and is available online for free.

Call for Papers – 8th FIW-Research Conference

The Research Centre International Economics - FIW announces its 8^th Research Conference that is jointly organized with the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) Regensburg, the Ifo Institute, the University of Ljubljana and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KRTK). Theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented contributions in the fields of ‘International Economics’ (JEL Codes F and or O) are welcome.

Submission Deadline: September 14, 2015

The conference encourages especially young economists to participate. There will be a ‘Best Conference Paper Award 15’ and a ‘Young Economist Award 15’ of € 1000 for each award.

The conference offers young economists the opportunity to interact in a dynamic and open atmosphere and to discuss their research ideas with experts in the field of ‘International Economics’.
