FIW-Spotlight: Mögliche Auswirkungen der von D. Trump angekündigten US-Zollerhöhungen

Der US-Präsidentschaftskandidat D. Trump hat im Falle seiner Wiederwahl erhebliche Zollerhöhungen auf US-Importe im Allgemeinen und speziell gegen China angekündigt. Solche Maßnahmen könnten das globale Handelssystem weiter destabilisieren und hätten unmittelbare negative Auswirkungen auf die Einkommen in den Exportmärkten wie der EU und China. Die Berechnungen von Robert Stehrer (wiiw) und Oliver Reiter (wiiw) anhand eines multisektoralen Gleichgewichtsmodells zeigen jedoch, dass die Folgen für die USA selbst noch gravierender wären.

Einladung: Studienpräsentation „Analyse der Effekte der EU-Handelsabkommen mit Australien und Neuseeland “ | 21.11.2024

Die Studie „Analyse der Effekte der EU-Handelsabkommen mit Australien und Neuseeland“ von Mag.a Elisabeth Christen, PhD (Projektleiterin, WIFO) und Dr. Hendrik Mahlkow (WIFO) gibt einen umfassenden Überblick über die Vertragselemente der EU-Freihandelsabkommen mit Australien und Neuseeland und ordnet diese einerseits im Hinblick auf die wirtschaftlichen Verflechtungen zwischen der EU und Australien bzw. Neuseeland sowie andererseits in Bezug auf die geoökonomische Bedeutung und die wirtschafts- und geopolitischen Ziele der EU ein. Kernstück der Analyse ist eine modellgestützte quantitative Bewertung der zu erwartenden langfristigen makroökonomischen Auswirkungen dieser Abkommen auf Sektorebene.

Das FIW freut sich, eine weitere Ausgabe der FIW-Trade Talks ankündigen zu können.

FIW-Projektleiter Harald Oberhofer diskutiert mit Prof. Holger Görg, Direktor des Forschungszentrums 'Internationaler Handel und Investitionen' am Kiel Institut für Weltwirtschaft, die Schlussfolgerungen aus dem rezenten Forschungsprojekt „Auswirkung von Sanktionen auf die Exportleistung deutscher Unternehmen“.

Am Beispiel der Sanktionen der EU von 2014 als Reaktion auf die Annexion der Krim und den russischen Gegenmaßnahmen analysieren die Autor:innen den Einfluss auf das Exportverhalten und die Leistung deutscher Unternehmen.

FIW-Spotlight: Possible effects of the US tariff increases proposed by Donald Trump

If re-elected, US presidential candidate D. Trump has announced significant tariff increases on US imports in general and against China in particular. Such measures could further destabilize the global trading system and would have a direct negative impact on incomes in export markets such as the EU and China. However, calculations by Robert Stehrer (wiiw) and Oliver Reiter (wiiw) based on a multi-sectoral equilibrium model show that the consequences for the US itself would be even more serious.

Invitation: Study presentation ‘Analysis of the effects of the EU trade agreements with Australia and New Zealand’ | 21.11. 2024

The study “Analysis of the effects of the EU trade agreements with Australia and New Zealand” by Mag.a Elisabeth Christen, PhD (project leader, WIFO) and Dr. Hendrik Mahlkow (WIFO) provides a comprehensive overview of the contractual elements of the EU free trade agreements with Australia and New Zealand and classifies them with regard to the economic interdependencies between the EU and Australia and New Zealand on the one hand and with regard to the geo-economic significance and the economic and geopolitical objectives of the EU on the other. The core of the analysis is a model-based quantitative assessment of the expected long-term macroeconomic effects of these agreements at sectoral level.

The Research Centre International Economics - FIW is pleased to announce another edition of the FIW Trade Talks.

FIW project leader Harald Oberhofer discusses with Prof. Holger Görg, Director of the Research Centre ‘International Trade and Investment’ at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, the conclusions from the recent research project ‘Impact of sanctions on the export performance of German companies’.

Using the example of the EU sanctions of 2014 in response to the annexation of Crimea and the Russian countermeasures, the authors analyze the influence on the export behavior and performance of German companies.
