Dear colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to the OeNB Summer School on the topic “Macro models with heterogeneous agents and their use for monetary policy based on household-level micro data”.

The course aims to provide

(i)            the basic theoretical insights about the key features of modern micro-based macro models dealing with monetary policy transmission,

(ii)          an understanding about the development of these tools, how to solve these models and major differences with regard to more traditional macro models

(iii)         knowledge about the data needs and techniques to calibrate/estimate them based on micro-level household data (HFCS).

The Summer School will take place at the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI)  (https://www.jvi.org/home.html) from August 29 to September 2, 2022. The course lecturers will be Kurt Mitman , University of Stockholm (IIES), and Brigitte Hochmuth , University of Vienna. For further details concerning the course outline and the course schedule, please refer to the enclosed document.

Feel free to circulate this information within your institutions. Space is limited, we use a first comes, first served principle. I also attach the application form (deadline: End of June, 2022).

Please note that the course is free of charge. However, it is the participant’s or his institution’s responsibility to make travel arrangements to/from Vienna and to organize his/ her accommodation considering also a possibility to stay at the JVI Residence (https://www.jvi.org/about/residence/general-information.html).

I hope you find the program interesting and would appreciate the participation of colleagues from your institution.

Kind regards,

Martin Summer
