announces a call for proposals for an interdisciplinary
conference
on the Geopolitics and the Ethics of Finance and Trade.

Oliver Turner (Senior Lecturer in International Relations,
University of Edinburgh)
Geopolitical tensions around the world threaten global trade and
economic growth more and more. What are the implications of
economic sanctions and trade wars, which emerge at an increasing
pace? For many countries, the
weaponization of currencies along with the imposition of tariffs
seem to be a suitable tool to ensure a competitive advantage.
However, what are the long-term effects of these measures on
global wealth? The reaction of central banks to
geopolitical shocks influences the development of the global
economy significantly as well. To this end, what would be the
right monetary policies to ensure sustainable global growth? These
and other questions will be addressed at
this interdisciplinary conference, which will also consider
ethical implications of trade barriers, and the impact of
financial regulations on global trade.
