(event will be held in German)

Monday, 15 September 2025 | 17:00 CEST

On behalf of the   Schumpeter Society Vienna and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, we are pleased to announce the Schumpeter Award 2025.

The Schumpeter Award, which was established in honor of the economist and social scientist Joseph A. Schumpeter (1883–1950), is presented in recognition of exceptional and outstanding accomplishments in the field of economics, economic policy and entrepreneurship. The focus of the award is on Schumpeter’s notion of “innovation” – which to him meant implementing new, forward-looking concepts and projects in the world of business, politics or economics.

This year's Schumpeter Award is presented to

Sabine Herlitschka, CEO of Infineon Technologies Austria AG and Vice President of the Federation of Austrian Industries, in recognition of her outstanding achievements as a visionary and pioneer in the Austrian high-tech industry.

The award will be presented by the Schumpeter Society’s President Ewald Nowotny.

The ceremony will be followed by a keynote speech by Sabine Herlitschka on "Austrian industrial policy" and a panel discussion on "Austrian and European industrial policy in a new geopolitical and geo-economic context” with Governor Martin Kocher and further panelists (tba).
