The Department of Economics at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) is offering a flexible position suited to:

• Pre-doctoral researchers seeking research experience before applying to a PhD program, or
• Candidates aiming to pursue a PhD at JKU Linz, supported by this position.

The role involves working closely with Prof. Bernhard Kasberger, PhD on the DFG-funded research project “Strategic Uncertainty in Market Design.”

The successful candidate will conduct research in (applied) microeconomic theory, particularly in market design and game theory. There is also the possibility to work in experimental economics or structural econometric modeling, depending on the candidate’s interests.

The position is initially limited to one year but can be extended upon mutual agreement.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate on research related to strategic uncertainty in market design
• Conduct independent research, either as a pre-doc or toward a dissertation
• Optional enrollment in JKU’s PhD program

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics or related fields
• Strong background in microeconomic theory and game theory
• Interest in market design; optional interests in experimental/structural methods
• Very good English skills (C1); German is not required
• Programming skills (Python, R, or similar) are an asset
