Green Deal: A Critical Assessment of Europe`s Green Industrial Policy” to be
delivered by Professor Reinhilde Veugelers (KULeuven) on
Monday, 25th of March 2024, at 5:00 pm

Reinhilde Veugelers is a well-known European expert on European industrial and innovation policy, professor of economics at KU Leuven and Senior Fellow at Bruegel. Her main area of work is industrial organisation, international economics and strategy, innovation, and science.
About the Lecture: Countries face the challenge of reconciling the various objectives of a green industrial policy, especially when these objectives conflict with each other. This includes combining decarbonisation with economic growth, employment, and global competitiveness as well as resilience and security of supply. The lecture will focus on the role of innovation in designing a successful green industrial policy that effectively combines these objectives. It will outline principles for policy design that guide the innovation system and examine current trends in clean energy innovation & policy in the US as well as the EU. The lecture and discussion will be held in English.
The keynote lecture will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A session with the audience. Members of the panel are Mag. Christina Glocknitzer, Seal Maker GmBH und Vizepräsidentin, IV Burgenland, Univ.Prof. Dr. Karl Aiginger, former Director of the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) and Prof. Reinhilde Veugelers. The panel discussion will be chaired by Michael Landesmann.
