The Department of Economics cordially invites you to the WU Research Seminar in Economics on Wednesday, April 8^th, with Rudolf Winter-Ebmer (https://www.jku.at/institut-fuer-volkswirtschaftslehre/team/winter-ebmer-rudolf/) presenting: "The Returns to International Migration in a Free Mobility Setting: Evidence from Austria and Germany".

Abstract: We study migration gains of migrants between Austria and Germany using administrative matched data from the two countries. Our analysis looks at long-term gains in the receiving country but also looks at return migrants. International migration gains are compared to non-migrating co-workers' behavior as well as to internal migrants who migrate from the countryside to a large city. Our analysis shows significant migration gains; larger gains for Austrians going to Germany but also gains for Germans going to Austria.
