It offers a platform for multi-disciplinary research on questions of utmost societal relevance and for discussion with students, academics and the public. We are pleased to invite you to the following public event: [cid:image001.jpg@01D8E7B9.AF7ADB60] Miles Corak (Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality, City University of New York) Public Policy for Equality and Opportunity: Evidence-Based and Ethically Grounded November 17, 2022 11.30 am - 1.30 pm Inequality erodes opportunity, and limited opportunity exacerbates inequality. This vicious intergenerational cycle has brought inclusive growth into question, contributed to the rise of populist sentiment, and strained the social contract in many rich countries. The way forward for researchers and policy makers requires not only a clear understanding of the facts about what kind of inequality matters and how it matters, but also an ethical grounding that speaks to the outcomes and opportunities that are important to citizens not only in the here and now, but also in the next generation. In 2017, he was the Economist in Residence at Employment and Social Development in Canada, the department of the Canadian federal government responsible for social policy. Piotr Paradowski, data expert and Research Associate at the Luxembourg Income Study, will present the cross-nationally harmonized micro dataset on household wealth, and practical aspects of data usage. The data set is especially interesting for students, for whom access is free of charge.
