[cid:image003.png@01D44F54.60C7EFF0] Presentation The impact of university prestige in the employment process Georgiana Mihut When: June 17th, 2019, 4:00 pm Where: Institut für Höhere Studien, Salon Josefstädter Straße 39, 1080 Wien Georgiana Mihut wrote her PhD on the impact of university prestige in the employment process. She conducted a field experiment in three countries - the USA, United Kingdom and Australia. In order to find out how employers react to university prestige and skills match, Mihut sent out 2,400 fictitious applications and analyzed the callbacks. Her experiment focused on the fields of the skill-intensive sectors of information and communication technology and accounting. She will present the interesting results of her study followed by a discussion on the topic. Georgina Mihut has recently received a PhD in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from Boston College. Her research interests span a wide array of topics in international and comparative higher education, including employability, stratification, equity, and quality. She has worked with the American Council on Education, the Boston College Center for International Higher Education, the World Bank and Harvard University. She holds an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's degree in Research and Innovation in Higher Education, a MA in Education and Globalization from University of Oulu, Finland, and a BA of Political Science from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania. Recently, Georgina Mihut has been granted a two-months Ernst Mach Grant - Worldwide award from the OeAD. She will use the scholarship to complete the project "Stratification and equity. The effects of university prestige in the labor market," under the supervision of Martin Kocher at the IHS in June and July 2019.
