The presentation aims at clarifying how school-to-work transitions might be addressed considering different types of complementarities and the related structuring process they exert on youth. The “bricolage” approach, highlights what are the main dimensions influencing the process and the challenges to be addressed. It also will show how educational systems, labour market regimes and other contextual dimensions are linked and produce differentiated opportunity structures. These might be producing or (re)producing inequalities and might require context-sensitive policies to break the vicious circles. The social investment perspective highlighting the importance of educational investments will be a fil-rouge of the presentation.
