Dear students, we hope you’ve successfully made it through this turbulent summer semester! To help you plan ahead for the summer months, below we have put together an overview of the latest information and updates from the WU Library. Borrowing books If you only need to borrow books, please use our lending service<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/library/using-the-library/restricted-lending-service-covid-19>. Exception: No books can be borrowed during the library maintenance period from July 20 to 31, 2020. Starting on August 3, 2020, the Central Library lending service will be available to you again. As of July 20, 2020, you can borrow and return books from the Library for Social Sciences in the D4 building again, from 9:00am–2:00pm (no pre-order or seat reservation is required). Returning books The LC building is open again and books can be returned at the self-service book return machine located to the right of the Central Library entrance during the regular opening hours (Mondays to Fridays, 7:00am–08:00pm). Exception: No books can be returned because of maintenance works from July 22 to 24 and on July 28, 2020. Scan service If you’re not in Vienna, you can request scans of excerpts from books or journal articles using our scanning service<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/library/using-the-library/scanservice>. Please note: Due to copyright restrictions, we are not allowed to digitize textbooks (not even extracts). Reopening of the libraries Do you want to be able to use the library as a place for independent work and studying again? Starting August 3, 2020, all three library branches will again be open for studying for a limited number of users. Seat reservations<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/library/using-the-library/seat-reservation> are required. Reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance. It is not possible to reserve and use the group study rooms and carrels (Central Library) until further notice. Scanner reservations in the D3 building The Library for Law will be open to students again starting August 3, 2020. For this reason, the scanner reservation service for WU students will be discontinued. Information & Consultation If you have general questions or concerns, feel free to contact us using our info chat<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/library/service/information-consultation> service through July. Starting in August, the Library Information desk staff will be back to answer your questions in person (Mondays to Fridays, 10:00am–noon and 2:00–4:00pm). For more advanced questions on literature research or reference management software, our Research Consultation<mailto:rechercheservice@wu.ac.at> team will be happy to help you. We wish you a great summer break, and we’re looking forward to seeing you in the WU Library again when you’re back! Your WU University Library team [cid:image002.jpg@01D65C34.885B54F0]
