[TaxEvasion_conference_SM_generalvisual] Dear Members of the NOeG, The Joint Research Centre is hosting a high-level conference on “The fiscal and distributional consequences of global tax avoidance and tax evasion” on 27, 28 and 29 September 2021 at 14.00 CET (13.30 on 29 September). The conference is organised in partnership with the EU Tax Observatory<https://www.taxobservatory.eu/> and the Commission department for taxation and customs<https://ec.europa.eu/info/departments/taxation-and-customs-union_en>. This Science for Policy conference will provide a scientific, policy-oriented analysis of the global tax evasion and tax avoidance as a source of fiscal and distributional predicament. Key themes for debate include the estimation of tax revenue losses, the mechanisms through which tax avoidance schemes operate, the distributional consequences of these practices and policy solutions, including in the context of recent proposals at the OECD and EU levels. Keynote speakers include Gabriel Zucman<https://gabriel-zucman.eu/> and Dina Pomeranz<https://www.econ.uzh.ch/en/people/faculty/pomeranz.html>. Commissioner Gentiloni will give the closing speech. The conference will bring together key policy-makers, world leading academics and representatives from the civil society including NGOs and journalists, to foster debates on recent and future research, and discuss policy proposals.
