Abstract:

Der Untergang des sowjetischen Imperiums besiegelte auch das Ende der sozialistischen Planwirtschaft, des größten ökonomischen Experiments des vergangenen Jahrhunderts. Damit setze ein langwieriger und noch immer andauernder Transformationsprozess ein, dessen tiefgreifende soziale Umwälzungen die postsozialistischen Gesellschaften stark geprägt haben. Unter den aus den Trümmern der zentralistischen Moskauer Planökonomie erwachsenen Volkswirtschaften nimmt die kleine Ostseerepublik Estland, die als vielgepriesener „Baltischer Tiger“ die Reformerfolge der meisten ehemaligen Satellitenstaaten in den Schatten stellte, eine Sonderstellung ein. Im Gegensatz zum dominanten, westlich geprägten Narrativ der neoliberalen Revolution, welches die „Bekehrung“ zur Marktwirtschaft als Folge der politischen Zeitenwende interpretiert, diskutiert der Vortrag Estlands ökonomischen „Sonderweg“ in Licht von entscheidenden Schlüsselmomenten der Perestrojka-Jahre.
