Trotz widriger Umstände konnte eine robuste Entwicklung der Warenexporte und Marktanteilsgewinne im ersten Halbjahr 2023 festgestellt werden. Allerdings vermitteln Unternehmenseinschätzungen im WIFO-Konjunkturtest einen pessimistischen Ausblick für die zweite Jahreshälfte 2023. Eine mäßige Erholung wird im kommenden Jahr erwartet. Darüber hinaus werden die wirtschaftliche Rolle anderer wichtiger Akteure in der Region, insbesondere der USA und Chinas, sowie Wirtschaftssektoren von besonderer Bedeutung, wie Landwirtschaft und Rohstoffe, in den laufenden Diskussionen über den Abschluss des EU-Mercosur-Abkommens untersucht. Despite adverse circumstances, a robust development of goods exports and market share gains were observed in the first half of 2023. However, company assessments in the WIFO Business Survey convey a pessimistic outlook for the second half of 2023. A moderate recovery is expected in the coming year. It will also assess the economic roles of other key actors in the region, namely the USA and China, and the economic sectors of particular importance, such as agriculture and raw materials, in the ongoing discussions surrounding the conclusion of the EU-Mercosur agreement.
