Dear students, You have great ideas and want to prove your creativity? You want to be part of an entrepreneurial endeavor and just wait to be asked? Now is your time. Open Data is an emerging trend to publish machine-readable data on the Web freely on portals in order to enable new businesses and transparency (see e.g. [1] for details). In collaboration with the Cooperation Open Government Data Austria [2], the Institute of Strategy, Technology, and Organization (Prof. Lettl), and the Institute for Information Business (Prof. Polleres) will launch an App & Ideation Competition around openly available Data. This competition is an open call for both, innovative (mobile) applications and creative ideas, what you think could be done by using Open Data. You have never heard about "Open Data" and you have no programming skills? No problem! Or You have programming skills, but are still missing the big idea for an App? No problem! The Department of Informations Systems & Operations (Prof. Polleres) and the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization (Prof. Lettl) offer a preparation workshop that equips you with everything you need to know and connects you with other students that have complementary skills – even before the Austrian-wide competition is started.
