Abstract: We study migration gains of migrants between Austria and Germany using administrative matched data from the two countries. Our analysis looks at long-term gains in the receiving country but also looks at return migrants. International migration gains are compared to non-migrating co-workers' behavior as well as to internal migrants who migrate from the countryside to a large city.
