Einladung / Invitation: Online-Keynote with Ivan Krastev, March 2nd 2021: How the pandemic changes Europe
by Vandor, Peter 23 Feb '21

23 Feb '21

Einladung: How the pandemic changes Europe - NGO Academy Keynote mit Ivan Krastev Datum und Zeit: Dienstag, 2. März 2021, 14:00 -15:30 MEZ Speaker: Ivan Krastev, Chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies Moderation: Univ. Mit herzlichen Grüßen, Peter Vandor ----------------------------------------------------------- Dear students, For the first time, we are offering a publicly accessible keynote as part of the NGO Academy, to which we cordially invite you. NGO Academy is a capacity building program for NGOs and social enterprises in Central- and Southeastern Europe, which we have been implementing in cooperation with the ERSTE Foundation since 2014. Invitation: How the pandemic changes Europe - NGO Academy Keynote mit Ivan Krastev Date and time: Tuesday, 2 March 2021, 14:00 -15:30 CET Speaker: Ivan Krastev, Chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies Moderation: Univ. Prof. Dr. Michael Meyer, Head of the Institute for Nonprofit-Management, WU Vienna Language: English Registration required: https://www.eventbrite.at/e/ngo-academy-keynote-is-it-tomorrow-yet-how-the-… What are the consequences of the pandemic that will set the course of the world in the coming years? Paradoxes that COVID-19 has brought to light regarding globalization include international cooperation, authoritarianism, social cohesion and the European project. Moreover, the pandemic has defined every aspect of our private and professional lives in 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Instead of fixating on yet another day's infection rate, this talk with Ivan Krastev will attempt to establish a bird's eye view on the effects of the pandemic and ask the long-term question: where is Europe, and in particular Central and Eastern Europe, heading in the years to come? Ivan Krastev is the chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies and permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences, IWM Vienna. He is a founding board member of the European Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Board of Trustees of The International Crisis Group and is a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times. He is the author of numerous books, the most recent "Is it Tomorrow, Yet? How the Pandemic Changes Europe" was published in 2020 (in German by Ullstein, June 2020; in English by Penguin, October 2020).
