Please scroll down for the English version Liebe Studierende, Feedback ist ein zentrales Element im Rahmen des Qualitätsansatzes der WU zur kontinuierlichen Verbesserung der Lehre und der Studienbedingungen an der WU. Insbesondere Ihre Meinung ist dabei von besonderer Bedeutung, da Sie als WU-Studierende/r laufend Erfahrungen mit unserem Studienbetrieb machen und uns unmittelbar Rückmeldung dazu geben können. Im Zuge des Relaunch der WU-Webseite wurde auch die elektronische Feedback-Box neu gestaltet: www.wu.ac.at/message4wu<http://www.wu.ac.at/message4wu> Message4WU bietet Ihnen die Möglichkeit, anonym oder unter Angabe einer Mailadresse, uns Ihre Verbesserungsvorschläge, Anregungen, Wünsche und Beschwerden rund um das Studium an der WU mitzuteilen: Egal ob sich Ihr Feedback auf die Lehr- und Lerninfrastruktur am Campus bezieht, auf Serviceeinrichtungen für Studierende, Lehrinhalte oder andere Bereiche - ich würde mich sehr freuen, mehr über Ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen und Eindrücke zu erfahren und dieses Wissen für die Weiterentwicklung der WU nutzen zu können! Sofern Sie Ihre Mailadresse angeben, erhalten Sie innerhalb weniger Tage eine individuelle Rückmeldung zu Ihrem Eintrag in die Feedback-Box. Zusätzlich werden jeweils am Beginn und Ende jedes Semesters je eine Feedback-Box im LC vor der Bibliothek und im Eingangsbereich des TC aufgestellt, wo Sie Ihr Feedback auf entsprechende FB-Karten schreiben und diese einwerfen können. Die beiden Boxen sind bereits aufgestellt, werden regelmäßig entleert und die Einträge bearbeitet. In diesem Sinne hoffe ich, dass Sie das Instrument der Feedback-Box künftig verstärkt nutzen werden. If you provide your email address, you will receive individual feedback within a few days. Additionally two feedback-boxes are disposed at the beginning and the end of each study semester, one in front of the library in the LC-building and another one in the entry area in the teaching center (TC), where you can use the respective feedback-cards. Both boxes are already placed. The feedback-cards are analysed on a regular basis. Ars Docendi 2016 - Erfolg für die WU

Liebe Studierende, die Qualität ihrer Lehre ist eines der wichtigsten Anliegen der WU - und Grundlage für Ihren Lernerfolg und Ihre spätere Karriere. ich freue mich daher besonders, dass die WU bei der Verleihung des "Ars Docendi-Staatspreis für exzellente Lehre an Österreichs öffentlichen Universitäten, Fachhochschulen und Privatuniversitäten" gestern Abend gleich zwei der insgesamt fünf verliehenen Preise erhalten hat. Ich möchte Gerhard Speckbacher, Aleksandra Klein und Arthur Posch sowie Ulrike Schneider und August Österle im Namen des gesamten Rektorats ganz herzlich gratulieren und mich für ihr Engagement in der Lehre bedanken! Prof. Dr. August Österle Lehrveranstaltung: "Globalisation and Social Policy II" Kategorie: Forschendes Lernen und Erschließen der Künste auf BA- und MA-Ebene Die Lehrveranstaltung ermöglicht Studierenden das bisher erlernte theoretische Wissen in einem mit Unternehmenspartnern durchgeführten Praxisprojekt anzuwenden und dadurch wertvolle Erfahrung für ihre berufliche Zukunft zu sammeln. Insbesondere die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Masterstudierenden und Bachelorstudierenden zeichnet den Kurs aus. In der Lehrveranstaltung durchlaufen die Studierenden in komprimierter Form einen gesamten wissenschaftlichen Projektzyklus. Die Forschungsergebnisse werden von den Studierenden mit Hilfe effektiver und attraktiver Instrumente (Blogbeiträge, Plakate, Broschüren, youTube-Videos...) der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Neben den beiden ausgezeichneten Lehrveranstaltungen war auch die LV "Sustainability Challenge", eingereicht von Elena Zepharovich, MSc. und Dr. Christian Rammel, auf der Shortlist der Jury zu finden, was angesichts der großen Konkurrenz von 126 Einreichungen bereits für sich eine Auszeichnung ist - auch dazu herzliche Gratulation! Ich möchte die Gelegenheit nutzen, mich auch bei den anderen Nominierten Dr. Helena Lovasz-Bukvova, Assoz. Prof. Dr. Christoph Bezemek, Dr. Gerhard Furtmüller und Dr. Wolf Heinrich Reuter für Ihr Engagement in der Lehre zu bedanken! Last but not least gilt mein Dank aber auch Ihnen: Gute Lehre ist etwas, das nur funktioniert, wenn Lehrende und Studierende zusammenarbeiten und sich auf einander einlassen. MA students take the role of team leaders and coordinate the project. Mutual feedback plays an important role in the course concept and is employed in a version of 360°-Feedback adjusted to the course context. In this course students are confronted with relevant research methodology and theory and have to develop their own research question. Given the high number of applications for the award - 126 in all - this can also be considered a great achievement! Aufnahmetest für Bachelor „Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften“ nicht notwendig/no entrance examination for the bachelor’s program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences

Please scroll down for the English version. Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen, nach Ablauf der Registrierungsfrist hat die WU am 15. Mai das zweistufige Aufnahmeverfahren für die 3.674 zur Verfügung stehenden Plätze im Bachelorstudium „Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften“ gestartet. Bis 31. Mai hatten die Bewerber/innen Zeit, ein Motivationsschreiben abzugeben. Dies haben 3.444 Personen gemacht. Nachdem diese Zahl unter den 3.674 Plätzen liegt, findet der geplante Aufnahmetest nicht statt. In den nächsten Tagen werden die Motivationsschreiben überprüft. Die Personen, die fristgerecht ein gültiges Schreiben abgegeben haben, erhalten Bescheid, dass sie sich für das Studium zulassen können. Wir haben heuer bemerkt, dass die Verbindlichkeit, sich für ein Studium zu registrieren durch die Einführung der Registrierungsgebühr gestiegen ist. Das zeigt im Übrigen auch ein Vergleich mit den Vorjahreszahlen: Im vergangenen Jahr hatten 79% der registrierten Personen ein Motivationsschreiben abgegeben, heuer sind es knapp 94%. Wir gehen davon aus, dass sich im Endeffekt auch mehr Personen als im Vorjahr (SJ 2015/16: 2.607 Personen) zum Bachelorstudium „Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften“ zulassen werden. Bei der Zulassung an der WU erhalten die StudienbeginnerInnen des Bachelorstudiums „Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften“ ein „Welcome Package“ in Form einer Tasche für die Bibliothek und Gutscheinen für studienrelevante Materialien im Wert der Registrierungsgebühr. Mit besten Grüßen, Edith Littich **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Dear colleagues, After expiration of the registration period, WU commenced with the two-phase admission process for the 3,674 available places in the bachelor’s program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences on May 15. Applicants had until May 31 to submit a letter of motivation. A total of 3,444 letters of motivation were submitted by the deadline, and as this number is lower than the 3,764 places available, the scheduled entrance exam will not need to be held after all. Over the next few days we will be reviewing the letters of motivation. All applicants who have submitted a valid letter on time will be notified that they can enroll in the bachelor’s program. This year’s numbers have shown that charging a registration fee makes potential students more likely to complete the application process. Last year, only 79% of all registered applicants submitted a letter of motivation, this year it was close to 94%. We also predict that a larger number of students will actually go through with enrollment to the bachelor’s program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences than last year (2015/16 academic year: 2,607 students). Students who, after completing the registration and admission process, actually enroll in the Business, Economics and Social Sciences program are issued a welcome package consisting of a transparent library bag and vouchers for study-related materials.
