Please scroll down for English version Liebe Studierende der WU, die Sicherheit und Gesundheit aller WU-Angehörigen ist uns ein großes Anliegen und es ist daher selbstverständlich, dass wir die Entwicklungen im Zusammenhang mit dem nun auch in Europa zunehmend auftretenden Coronavirus (COVID-19) genau verfolgen. Unser Bestreben ist es hierbei, ein höchstes Ausmaß an Vorsicht walten zu lassen und alle verfügbaren Informationen weiterzugeben, dabei aber gleichzeitig auch möglichst rational und unaufgeregt mit der Situation umzugehen. Die WU folgt hierbei den Anweisungen und Empfehlungen der österreichischen Behörden und der Weltgesundheitsorganisation. Auf dieser Grundlage bitten wir um besondere Berücksichtigung folgender Hinweise: I) Bei kürzlich erfolgten Aufenthalten in Gebieten mit erhöhtem Infektionsrisiko (siehe Reisewarnungen des Außenministeriums<https://www.bmeia.gv.at/reise-aufenthalt/reisewarnungen/>) oder bei engem Kontakt mit einem bestätigten Corona-Fall Patienten - Nehmen Sie bitte während der ersten 14 Tage nach Rückkehr aus diesen Gebieten bzw. nach engem Kontakt mit einem bestätigten Corona-Fall Patienten nicht an Lehrveranstaltungen teil. Sie werden darüber hinaus ersucht ihre sozialen Kontakte freiwillig stark zu reduzieren. II) Allgemein bei Auftreten von typischen Symptomen wie Fieber, Husten, Atembeschwerden: - Bleiben Sie bitte zu Hause und kontaktieren Sie die Gesundheitshotline 1450 zur Klärung Ihrer gesundheitlichen Situation. Sollte eine dieser beiden Situationen auf Sie zutreffen und Sie dadurch LV-Einheiten versäumen, melden Sie sich bitte umgehend und rechtzeitig (d.h. vor den jeweiligen LV-Einheiten) bei den betreffenden Lehrveranstaltungsleiter/inne/n mit entsprechend nachvollziehbarer Glaubhaftmachung des Grundes Ihrer Abwesenheit. In diesen Fällen erfolgt bei prüfungsimmanenten Lehrveranstaltung keine Abmeldung von der Lehrveranstaltung. Über allfällige Ersatzleistungen für die Dauer Ihrer Abwesenheit informiert Sie die/der Lehrveranstaltungsleiter/in. While exercising the greatest degree of caution and passing on all available information, we also want to deal with the situation as rationally and calmly as possible. WU is complying with all instructions and recommendations issued by the Austrian authorities and the World Health Organization. Based on these guidelines, we ask that you take special note of the following: I) Students who have recently stayed in areas with an increased risk of infection (see travel warnings issued by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs<https://www.bmeia.gv.at/reise-aufenthalt/reisewarnungen/> - link in German) or who have been in close proximity to a confirmed Corona case - Please do not attend any courses during the first 14 days after returning from these areas or after you have been in close proximity to a confirmed Corona case. Should you have to miss classes for the reasons mentioned above, please contact the relevant course instructors immediately (i.e. before the start of the course units). Please inform the instructors about your situation and provide some evidence to justify your absence. In these cases, you will not be dropped from the course(s) and the attendance policy will not apply for the duration of your justified absence. The course instructor may ask you to hand in alternative assignments during your absence. If you should experience symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties or if you need medical help in general the following recommendations apply: - Stay at home - and do absolutely not attend any sessions, events, lectures at university or any other public events. - Contact emergency number 144 or the Viennese health hotline 1450. Please scroll down for the English version Liebe Studierende, im Dezember 2019 haben wir Sie zum fünften Mal dazu eingeladen, ein oder zwei WU-Lehrende, die besonders engagiert und motivierend lehren, für den Preis der "Exzellenten Lehre" vorzuschlagen. Dieser zeichnet Lehrende aus, die außergewöhnliches Engagement zeigen und dadurch optimale Bedingungen zum Lernen schaffen. Es freut uns daher besonders Ihnen bekannt geben zu dürfen, dass wir heuer zum ersten Mal mehr als 4000 Nominierungen erhalten haben: 3.006 Studierende haben 4.079 Nominierungen abgegeben und dabei 714 Lehrende nominiert. Wir möchten uns herzlich für Ihr großes Interesse und die großartige Beteiligung am Nominierungsprozess der Exzellenten Lehre bedanken! Die Aufbauarbeiten, Proben sowie die Feierlichkeiten können eventuell in der Bibliothek wahrgenommen werden. Für ungestörtes Arbeiten haben Sie die Möglichkeit, auf die Lernzonen im Teaching Center sowie in den Department Gebäuden auszuweichen. Wir ersuchen Sie von 14 - 18 Uhr nur folgende Ein- und Ausgänge zu benutzen: § Hintereingang Nord (hinter Festsaal 1 und 2) inkl. dem Lift, der sich dort befindet § Seiteneingang Ost bei ZBP auf Ebene -1 inkl. dem Lift, der zur Bibliothek führt bzw. von dort kommt In diesem Zeitraum sind Forum und Rampen gesperrt. Liebe Studierende, auch in diesem Jahr wird es für Sie wieder die Möglichkeit geben, Ihre Stimme für den Preis der Exzellenten Lehre abzugeben: Zum mittlerweile fünften Mal in Folge können Sie als Studierende/r Lehrende nominieren, die aus Ihrer Sicht exzellente Leistungen in der Lehre erbringen. In den letzten vier Jahren ist die Anzahl der Nominierungen stetig gestiegen und lag im Dezember 2018 bei über 3460 Nominierungen. Wir freuen uns daher auf eine Vielzahl an Vorschlägen von Ihnen - und vielleicht wird die 4000er Grenze an Nominierungen mit Ihrer Beteiligung heuer zum ersten Mal überschritten. Von 02.12 bis 19.12.2019 wird es daher möglich sein, jeweils zwei Lehrende über LEARN für den Preis zu nominieren. Nach Ablauf der Nominierungsfrist werden die Nominierungen an eine Jury mit Expert/inn/en und Vertreter/innen aus dem Haus, die über die Vergabe des Preises auf Basis Ihrer Rückmeldungen entscheidet, übergeben. Der Preis für Exzellente Lehre wird dann im Rahmen der WU Awards im Juni 2020 überreicht. Zur Verleihung, wie auch zum Sommerfest im Anschluss daran, sind Sie als Studierende herzlich eingeladen. Like every year before Christmas we would like to invite you to nominate outstanding teachers for the Excellent Teaching Award. Over the last four years, there was an increase in the number of nominations every year. Last year, students submitted a total of 3460 nominations - maybe we can cross the limit of 4000 nominations for the first time this year? Please nominate up to two excellent teachers via LEARN from December 2nd to December 19th, 2019. After the end of the nomination process, an expert panel (consisting of WU representatives) will decide on the 2020 winners. The awardees of the previous editions of the Excellent Teaching Award can be found on the WU Homepage<https://www.wu.ac.at/en/staff/information-for-teachers/teaching-awards/exce…>. The Excellent Teaching Award will be presented to the awardees in the course of the WU Awards ceremony, together with the other teaching and research awards. You will be informed about the selection of the awardees and also invited to the event. Wir möchten Sie darauf hinweisen, dass in diesem Zeitraum der gesamte 5. Stock des Teaching Centers (TC) für die Veranstaltung genutzt wird und daher die Seminarräume, Lernzonen und Projekteräume auf dieser Ebene nicht zugänglich sind. Am Donnerstag, den 28. November 2019, können die Aufbauarbeiten, Proben sowie die Feierlichkeiten im Forum des Library Centers (LC) eventuell in der Bibliothek wahrgenommen werden. Für ungestörtes Arbeiten haben Sie die Möglichkeit, auf die Lernzonen im Teaching Center (ausgenommen 5. Stock) sowie in den Department Gebäuden auszuweichen. Wir ersuchen Sie, am Donnerstag, den 28. November 2019 ab 18:00 Uhr nur folgende Ein- und Ausgänge des Library Centers (LC) zu benutzen: § Hintereingang Nord (hinter Festsaal 1 und 2) inkl. dem Lift, der sich dort befindet § Seiteneingang Ost bei ZBP auf Ebene -1 inkl. dem Lift, der zur Bibliothek führt bzw. von dort kommt In diesem Zeitraum sind Forum und Rampen gesperrt. Wir ersuchen Sie, ab 18:00 Uhr folgende Ein- und Ausgänge so weit wie möglich zu meiden: § Haupteingang § Lift und Ausgang hinter Infopult § Seiteneingang Ost Forum bei WU Shop (neben Raum LC0.004 "Galerie") § Zugang zum Library Café über das Forum Wir danken für Ihr Verständnis! For this period we would like to point out that the entire 5th floor of the Teaching Center (TC) will be used for the event and therefore the seminar rooms, learning zones and project rooms will not be accessible. On Thursday, 28 November 2019, the construction work, rehearsals and the festivities at the Forum of the Library Center (LC) will most likely be audible in the library. For undisturbed work you have the possibility to use the learning zones in the Teaching Center (except 5th floor) as well as in the Department buildings. On Thursday, 28.11.2019, we ask you to use only the following entrances and exits of the Library Center (LC) from 06:00 p.m.: § North rear entrance (behind Ceremonial Halls 1 and 2) and the elevator located there § East side entrance near the ZBP Career Center on level -1 and the elevator to and from the library During the time indicated the Forum and Ramps are closed.
