Abstract The German economy has been experiencing structural change - a shift in economic activity from manufacturing to services - although the share of manufacturing in gross value added has remained at a higher level than in other advanced economies since the 1990s. This is primarily a result of historical specialization and locational advantages. In the coming years, however, structural change will likely accelerate, driven by changes in international trade relations, decarbonization, digitalization and AI, as well as demographic ageing. The impact of structural change especially on employment is heterogeneous across regions: While metropolitan areas and economically strong rural regions benefit from positive agglomeration effects, disadvantaged regions (e.g., in East Germany) will likely face declining employment. In addition, regions that have been economically successful with a stable industry composition will also be affected by structural change, in particular, if they have specialized in knowledge-intensive manufacturing industries. Policy options to mitigate regional adjustment frictions and to prevent structural unemployment include providing suitable and attractive training opportunities for affected workers, investing in infrastructure and promoting technological progress with R&D investments. Die jüngste Inflationsphase hat die öffentliche Debatte um drei Begriffe bereichert: „Greenflation”, „Fossilflation” und „Climateflation”. Greenflation bezeichnet den Preisdruck, der im Zuge des Übergangs zu einer klimaneutralen Wirtschaft mit sauberer Energieerzeugung entsteht – etwa durch CO2-Bepreisung oder andere Regulierungsmaßnahmen. Fossilflation beschreibt Preisanstiege, die durch die Verknappung oder Verteuerung fossiler Energieträger entstehen – etwa durch Marktmacht, geopolitische Krisen oder steigende Förderkosten. Climateflation meint allgemeine Preissteigerungen, die direkt oder indirekt durch die Folgen des Klimawandels selbst ausgelöst werden – etwa durch Ernteausfälle, Produktivitätsrückgang oder gestörte Lieferketten. Doch entsprechen diese Phänomene der Realität? Einerseits steigen die Preise durch die höhere Nachfrage nach grünen Technologien und kritischen Rohstoffen, sowie durch die Abschreibungskosten fossiler Infrastrukturen („Stranded Assets“). Andererseits können die sinkende Nachfrage nach fossilen Energieträgern und die immer günstigeren erneuerbaren Energieträger die Inflation sogar dämpfen. Renommierte Expertinnen und Experten diskutieren mit dem Publikum über die Auswirkungen von Klimawandel und -politik auf das allgemeine Preisniveau. But should it also contribute to the green transition? Supporters argue that central banks can mitigate climate-related risks and encourage sustainable investments. Specific tools include adjusting bond purchases and regulating collateral based on carbon intensity. However, opponents warn that this constitutes "mission creep" in the central bank's mandate, undermining market neutrality and creating conflicts of interest regarding price stability. Typically, this discussion refers only to the climate-friendly orientation of central banks' investments under quantitative easing programs. For example, the European Central Bank is trying to measure and reduce climate risks in its portfolios. However, quantitative easing is becoming less important due to the fight against inflation. Conversely, conventional monetary policy can favor the transition by lowering interest rates, as green technologies tend to be capital-intensive. At the same time, climate change poses challenges to monetary policy by leading to higher and more volatile inflation. How can monetary policy adapt? The Contribution of Medically Assisted Reproduction to Total, Age- and Parity-Specific Fertility in Italy Agnese Vitali, University of Trento Abstract: Countries characterized by low and late fertility offer a unique test ground for studying the contribution of MAR to fertility rates. This study estimates the contribution of Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAR) to fertility in Italy - the country with the latest maternal age at first birth and the highest share of births to mothers aged 40+ in Europe. Relying on a unique combination of administrative data sources -the Certificate of Delivery Care Registry dataset, the Register of Live Births to the Resident Population, and the resident population by age and sex- we calculate the age-specific fertility rates (total and by parity) for births conceived via MAR and those conceived naturally. These rates are then utilized to assess the contribution of MAR to total, age- and parity-specific fertility, as well as to the mean maternal age at childbearing. This study is the first estimation of its kind for Italy About the presenter: Agnese Vitali is a Professor of Demography at the University of Trento, where she coordinates the PhD in Sociology and Social Research. Her research deals with topics in social demography, particularly relating to families, fertility and gender issues.

Using rich administrative data, we show that these patterns are driven by the occupational demands of teaching-particularly high emotional labor and intense social interaction-rather than selection into the profession. Mental health outcomes vary substantially across schools, with large differences in teacher absenteeism, diagnoses, and prescription drug use. These differences are not well explained by observable school characteristics, but they correlate strongly with student-reported measures of classroom functioning and well-being. Leveraging a quasi-experimental mover design and event-study framework, we provide causal evidence that teachers' mental health responds to school-specific environments: teachers who move from low-stress to high-stress schools experience a deterioration in mental health outcomes.
