Dear Members, WU is currently inviting applications for the position of a full professor of Microeconomics and Digitalization at the Department of Economics. Digitalization has changed the way businesses operate today and how they will be run in the future. Differences may lie in consumer behavior, firm behavior, and in the modes of competition. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research on microeconomics with a specific focus on the digital economy. Candidates are expected to have established an international reputation as a researcher in their field. Depending on the candidate's academic credentials, the employment contract can be concluded either as a permanent employment contract or as a fixed-term employment contract with the option of a permanent extension. Our ABM for a small open economy uses micro and macro data from national and sector accounts, input-output tables, government statistics, census and business demography data. The model incorporates all economic activities as classified by the European System of Accounts as heterogeneous agents. The detailed structure of the ABM allows for a breakdown into sector level forecasts. Potential applications of the model include stress-testing and predicting the effects of changes in monetary, fiscal, or other macroeconomic policies.
