The large overlap between these outcomes allow the basic labor market patterns to be explained by either sector- or occupation-specific technological change. Yet distinguishing these two potential drivers is important as their implications differ for certain outcomes and for evaluating policies. In this paper we use a parsimonious model to extract sector-occupation specific technological change from the data. Using a factor model we decompose these changes into sector only and occupation only components, and show that both play a role. Finally we use our model to generate counterfactual series to gauge the importance of sector specific and occupation specific technological change on relative wages, sectoral value added shares and sector-occupation employment shares. BELYI University of Eastern Finland, Centre for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law Abstract Last year was marked by a surprising privatisation deal in Russia’s oil and gas industry, between Rosneft and a Glencore-Qatar consortium. It demonstrated the ability of sanctioned companies to bypass the most harmful effects from restrictions on financial flows. The strategy of the buyers, in particular Glencore, whose past has been characterised by business in sanctioned states, remains unclear. As for the Russian hydrocarbon industry, can short-term financial solutions provide a way out of the sanctions predicament? In answering this question, important medium- and long-term problems need to be outlined, such as a deteriorating image abroad and weakening access to more innovative technologies. ABSTRACT Green Public Procurement (GPP), or green purchasing, entered the global agenda in the early 2000s while the majority of national programmes was launched already ten years earlier. Their implementation discloses a wide range of contradictory economic consequences. Our research is focused on the GPP welfare effects in autarky and upon trade integration across eco-heterogeneous countries. We introduce the public procurement analysis approach into the heterogeneous firms setting aiming to model the life-cycle based GPP programmes that account for the environmental quality of the whole production process. The designed framework shows the collateral effect of green purchasing based on the resources redistribution across industries and average productivity changes. It also allows to study the welfare effects conditionally on the type of the GPP policy in closed and open economy settings. Our research contributes to a relatively scarce literature on environment and trade with heterogeneous rms proposing a new approach to the GPP modelling. The paper also provides a set of policy recommendations that can be of particular interest due to the development of eco-labelling and environmental standards, and corresponding GPP programmes. Unlike in a federal state, current account imbalances matter in an "unfinished" monetary union. A stable monetary union requires a framework to limit imbalances and promote sustainable growth, avoiding the problem of "rotating slumps". Since the crisis some steps have been taken to address the issue, notably the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure (MIP). The MIP is, however, asymmetric, focusing on adjustment in deficit countries. A more symmetric resolution and avoidance of imbalances would also need to address the fiscal rules, which focus narrowly on deficit limitation, which is inimical to sustained and balanced growth. In the absence of a major breakthrough towards federalized economic policymaking, a path forward is needed that as far as possible builds on existing institutions. A proposal is made to reactivate the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines, broaden the remit of the advisory Productivity Boards to encompass the entire policy mix, and strengthen the Macroeconomic Dialogue, notably by establishing MEDs at national and Eurozone level. A Life Course Perspective" Abstract: The adult life of women and men is characterised by a plurality of choices and events pertaining to different life domains, but in the literature pregnancy intentions are normally studied in isolation from intentions pertaining to other spheres of life. We study the correspondence of pregnancy intentions and reproductive outcome in a life course framework, encompassing several life domains such as partnership, education, work and residence. Using longitudinal data from the Generations and Gender Surveys in five European countries (Austria, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, and Lithuania), we examine individuals' pregnancy intentions and subsequent outcomes with a focus on the mediating and moderating role of alternative life course intentions and realisations. We find that adults' life plans are multidimensional and that the more simultaneous intentions individuals have, the less likely they are to achieve their childbearing goals in a short time period. Some intentions, like moving to a new dwelling, facilitate the realisation of birth intentions; others, like changing a job, tend to hinder the realisation of birth intentions. Finally, individuals are more successful in having their intended child in countries that promote a reconciliation of work and family life.
